- Jasen spent his entire life in Scotland.
- He is of Scottish and Irish decent.
- After graduating high school in 1997, he immediately began his college career, pursuing a Bachelor's of Education Degree. He stayed right in Glasgow to complete his collegic studies, maintaining a nearly perfect GPA through his entire coursework. The lad was something of a genius, so to speak. He just classified himself a 'bookworm', a 'bit of a nerd', really. He had always excelled in his studies, which was part of the reason he wished to become a teacher to help others learn, learn to love to learn, and to unlock their greater potential. He had a particular fondness for English and sciences growing up and that continues with him today.
- While living in Glasgow, Jasen was an English teacher at St. Paul's High School (From 2001 full time until 2010). The school he had attended as a lad. He was teaching English as well as offering his credentials organizing and maintaining the science club. He had a particular nack for making learning fun and while his English classes were - lack of better term - by the book for the longest time - his science club pushed boundaries. He had always geeked out over the solar system and science in general and it really came through with this club. From planetarium trips to building an impressive auditorium-sized scale of the solar system for a presentation with his students.
- His English class teaching started becoming a bit more unorthodox and fun, so to speak, in 2007. More comfortable in his teaching, he began doing the same sort of presentations and fun projects in his classes that his science club had been experiencing. Only of course it involved plays, in class reenactments, and things of that nature. Right down to costumes and make up. It was a bit of drama club right in his very classroom. He still to this day does similar, just wanting his students to enjoy learning, be 'in the moment' of what he's teaching them, and tries to work with them to get as good of grades as possible to better themselves in the future.
- It wasn't until recently, March of 2010, that Jasen relocated when a job opportunity presented itself in the United States. He found out about the opportunity through an occupational website revealing an opening in Pennsylvania State in the USA. He promptly took up the option of flying over to the United States to go about the interview proceedings of landing this job. Due to his previous employment, his reputation and his resume, he was pretty near hired on the spot. The position wasn't opened until May of 2010, so from March when he got hired until May the 1st, he was moving from Scotland over to West Chester, Pennsylvania in the United States to prepare for the new school, new country, and new experience.
- He'll be teaching English at West Chester East High School starting 6th May, 2010.
- He was asked by West Chester East to assist in the science club from his reputation as an educator. Aside from his English classes he has taken up position to assist where he can with the already established club. He enjoys science enough to take on this extra bulk load aside from his love of literature and reading with his English courses. He just loves education and learning new things daily as well as teaching new things.
- In his spare time, he loves reading, having the occasional glass of wine, traveling, writing, good music, and the occasional movie outing. He's a fan of all things sci-fi, supernatural and things of the horror genre. He enjoys anything that provokes the imagination and anything that makes you think.
- He's a king when it comes to the game scrabble. It's his favorite board game and plays it often. He also has played the online edition. He's also a big fan of chess and has a customed Royal Pewter & Glass Chess Set at his home.
- Is a relatively laid back individual but can be a hard ass when the moment precedes him. Especially in his classes. He takes his profession quite seriously but is known to kick back and have a laugh with his classes. He usually enjoys his classes and the students in them so he expects that the transition from Scotland to the US will be no different. He's anticipating it.
- As far as formalities go, he's not very formal. He hates being called 'Sir' or anything of the sort. Though he knows his students are supposed to refer to him as 'Mister', once he gets to know them he encourages they just call him Jase, since he's very much a first name basis type of person. However during the 'getting-to-know' process he tolerates the 'Mr Kilbourn' bit. Begrudgingly, might it be noted.
